Marathon is struggling to take off, and Bungie is trying everything to reverse the trend, but the plans don't seem to be very clear. In a week, on September 22nd, the next major update was supposed to be released, but it has been canceled: the related content has been postponed to December 8th, when the Symbiosis update will be released. Meanwhile, a minor update will arrive on October 6th, which will reset the game's progression and economy.

Future Symbiosis Content

The progression reset was decided after some players advanced very far into the endgame during Season 2, leaving others behind. Bungie therefore wants everyone to start from the same level, a choice that could, however, prove unpopular. For content, we will have to wait for Symbiosis, whose biggest novelty will be the first permanent PvE mode. We will also find a new type of Runner Shell, a revamped Perimeter experience, a PvP deathmatch mode, a social space, and more.

How Marathon Will Update in the Future

For more details, consult the official website. Rather, do you remember the future seasons Bungie itself told us about? Well, forget them. The American company has changed its mind about how its creation will be updated: major content will no longer be tied to a rigid seasonal structure. The irregular cadence will allow developers to have greater flexibility in creating said content.
