Little Nightmares – Broken Promises selected for Annecy festival
The stop-motion animated short film has been selected for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival

Little Nightmares – Broken Promises, the stop-motion animated short film first shown during last June's Little Nightmares Showcase Event, has been officially selected for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in the Commissioned Films category and will be screened during the festival.
Created in collaboration with the International Animation Center Taller del Chucho at the University of Guadalajara – a renowned Mexican stop-motion studio founded by Guillermo del Toro – it draws on the original inspirations of the award-winning Little Nightmares franchise, which blends with the handmade aesthetic of stop-motion to deepen its unsettling atmosphere.
The short is directed by Sofía Carillo and Juan Medina. Sofía Carillo is known for Cerulia (2017), the animated short she directed, animated, and wrote, which received over 20 international awards. Juan Medina, winner of five Arieles from the Mexican Academy of Arts and Film Sciences between 2013 and 2015, is known for Tío (2021) and the film Salma’s Big Wish (2012).
Broken Promises follows a little girl, trapped in an attic, who seeks refuge in a dollhouse full of promises. As she ventures deeper, she begins to uncover the sinister truth hidden behind this charming facade; a world where every shadow could conceal a monster.
