Kojima Denies Receiving Offers for a Matrix Game
The Japanese game designer issues a firm denial
The rumor that the Wachowski sisters directly offered Hideo Kojima the opportunity to create a video game based on The Matrix has been emphatically denied by the man himself. The Truth About Kojima and The Matrix
Hideo Kojima shed light on the matter with a lengthy post on Twitter/X. The Japanese game designer clarified that the alleged conversation never took place, and that he never received the offer. Kojima specified that he was not present at the meeting between the Wachowskis and Kitaue, which is when the alleged offer for a Matrix game would have been made; subsequently, he never heard about such an offer. The game designer confirmed that at the time he was working on Metal Gear Solid 2, so he wouldn't have been able to accept a The Matrix project just like that. However, if a proposal had indeed arrived, perhaps he would have managed to find a way to make it a reality…
