Hugh Jackman to be Long John Silver in Ridley Scott's Film
The choice of actor seems very interesting precisely because of the complexity of the role
Hugh Jackman is ready to step into the shoes of one of the most famous pirates in literature. According to the latest rumors, the Australian actor will lead the cast of the new cinematic adaptation of Treasure Island, with Ridley Scott behind the camera and a screenplay penned by Jack Thorne.
Published in 1883 by Robert Louis Stevenson, the novel tells the adventure of young Jim Hawkins, involved in the search for the legendary treasure of Captain Flint after finding a mysterious map. At the heart of the story, however, is Long John Silver, an ambiguous and charismatic character who over the years has become the reference model for countless pirates in pop culture.
A Literary Classic Returns to Cinema
The choice of Jackman seems particularly interesting precisely because of the complexity of the role. Silver alternates charm, cunning, and ruthlessness, qualities that could offer the actor a very different interpretation compared to the characters he has tackled in recent years.
The project is still in its early stages of development, and no details have been released about the rest of the cast or the Studio that will distribute the film. Some sources also claim that 20th Century Studios has decided not to proceed with the production, leaving room for a different configuration of the initiative.
With Ridley Scott directing and Hugh Jackman as Long John Silver, the new version of Treasure Island aims to bring one of the most influential adventure stories of all time back to the big screen.
