The Dog Stars: Trailer and Release Date for Ridley Scott's Film
A signal in the silence rekindles hope, but coming out into the open could cost everything
A world reduced to its bare essentials, where survival is no longer enough. With The Dog Stars, Master Ridley Scott returns to post-apocalyptic science fiction in a story that centers on a simple and brutal question: what remains of humanity when everything else is gone?
The film will arrive in Italian cinemas on August 26, 2026 and is showcased with a trailer that focuses less on action and more on the moral tension of its protagonists. Jacob Elordi plays Hig, a surviving pilot who lives in isolation with Bangley, a pragmatic ex-military man played by Josh Brolin. Their precarious balance is shaken by a mysterious radio signal, which rekindles a possibility: not being alone.
Survival Is No Longer Enough
Driven by hope, Hig decides to face the unknown in search of other human beings, on a journey that questions every certainty. Alongside them is Margaret Qualley, in a cast that includes Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney.
Based on Peter Heller's novel and written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), the film has a certain flavor reminiscent of The Omega Man, here in the form of an intimate story disguised as a survival tale, where the real conflict is not against the outside world, but against what one risks losing within oneself.
