Halloween Explains Its Terrifying Multiplayer with a Trailer

The town of Haddonfield turns red

The American studio IllFonic is developing a stealth horror video game for Halloween, based on John Carpenter's legendary film. The game will offer both a single-player campaign and multiplayer. The new trailer (be warned, it's quite explicit) gives us an overview of the multiplayer: it's an asymmetrical 1vs4 experience, where one user plays the infamous killer Michael Myers, while the others are ordinary residents of the town of Haddonfield, whose goal is to survive.

Multiplayer from Michael Myers' Perspective

Michael Myers' goal is to kill all the town's inhabitants, or at least as many as possible before time runs out. To this end, the killer can use supernatural abilities that allow him to locate survivors or move at high speed without being seen. Myers can use various weapons and eliminate his targets in creative ways; he is also immortal, but can be captured by law enforcement.

Multiplayer from the Victims' Perspective

Players who portray citizens will have to warn other residents of the danger and lead them to escape routes, which are randomly scattered across the map. They can use various useful tools, which must first be found, and can even attack Myers, though not kill him. Other ways to stop the killer include light sources and the local police forces. If killed, players can continue to participate, supporting survivors or impersonating a police officer.

When and Where Halloween is Released

If the idea of returning to the Halloween night of 1978 excites you, we remind you that there's still a bit of a wait before you can get your hands on the game: Halloween will be released on September 8, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Epic Games Store.
