Ryan Gosling's passion for Ghost Rider and his interpretive versatility convinced Marvel Studios to cast him as Johnny Blaze. Explaining the reasons behind the choice was Sarah Finn, the Studio's casting director, who spoke at the Newport Beach Film Festival.

Finn emphasized the importance of actors' personal involvement with the roles they play. Gosling's enthusiasm for the project is therefore a fundamental element, as it allows for an authentic connection with the character to be brought to the screen. Marvel was also convinced by the actor's ability to tackle very different roles, a valuable quality for bringing to life a character torn between his human identity and the supernatural transformation that defines him.

In commenting on the project, the casting director also expressed confidence in the work of Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool & Wolverine. The combination of Gosling's talent and the filmmaker's vision represents, according to Finn, a promising combination for the new adaptation.

The screenplay is entrusted to Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project, This Is Where I Leave You). After the cinematic forays starring Nicolas Cage in 2007 and 2011 without particular critical or public acclaim, Levy's film will bring Ghost Rider back to the center of a Marvel feature film, with a theatrical release scheduled for late July 2028.
