Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave - Nintendo Direct

Nintendo has broadcast a Direct dedicated to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the next installment in the tactical RPG series. The story of this video game revolves around a gladiatorial tournament taking place in the city of Dagsion, in which the young Cai, the swordsman Dietrich, Queen Theodora, and the musician Leda participate. Each of these four characters has their own dedicated campaign.

The great thing is that the progress of each individual campaign is saved individually, so you can tackle more than one at a time; if you wish, you can even conduct all four together. In truth, none of the indicated characters is the true protagonist of Fortune's Weave: the plot extends far beyond the tournament, but we prefer not to specify further to avoid spoilers. After thoroughly introducing the four heroes, the Direct moves on to discuss the combat system.

Being a tactical RPG with the depth of Fire Emblem, you can imagine how deeply the discussion goes into positioning, attacks, special moves, unit types, etc... But the gladiatorial arena battles are only a small part of what Fortune's Weave has to offer. Between one combat and the next, there's plenty of time to spend, which can be passed, for example, through the streets of Dagsion.

The city offers multiple activities, such as recruiting units to deploy in battle, training to power up said units, shops to buy useful items, temples to visit to gain the favor of the gods, and more. If the confines of Dagsion prove too narrow, you can venture outside the city walls, and there's an entire world waiting.

Players will be able to travel through the Empire of Dagda (of which Dagsion is the capital), visiting other cities or points of interest and fighting enemies that will randomly appear on the map. Exploration promises to be massive, but you'll have to be careful because travel takes time, and you need to return to the arena in time for the next fight... Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will be released on September 17, 2026, as an absolute exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2.
