Final Fantasy Resonance Shows Off Pixels in New Trailer
What if the series had continued down the pixel art path?
Final Fantasy VII was the first title in the series to adopt 3D graphics and has become one of the most revered JRPGs ever, if not the most revered. But what if the series had instead continued to push the limits of pixel art? This is the provocation that greets us in the new trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, which will be the first installment in the franchise developed in HD-2D.
Beyond the adopted style, all the typical elements of Final Fantasy seem to be there: a world dotted with exotic locations, cities, villages, and dungeons to explore; a party with various characters to recruit; a turn-based combat system, where you unleash abilities and magic against powerful enemies. If you're looking for a JRPG with a classic feel but a modern style, Final Fantasy Resonance is set for October 22, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC (Steam, Xbox PC).
