Far Cry: Cameras Finally Rolling on FX Series
Hoping for a narrative evolution light-years away from Uwe Boll's 2008 cinematic flop
FX has started filming Far Cry, the television series developed by Noah Hawley to bring the Ubisoft saga to the small screen. The cast includes Rob Mac, Steve Buscemi, and Lizzy Caplan, although their characters remain secret.
The announcement of the project dates back to late 2025, but only recently has production entered the thick of filming. FX continues to maintain maximum secrecy about the story, leaving curiosity especially about the direction chosen by Hawley, hoping for a narrative evolution far from the mess Uwe Boll made in 2008.

The series will not bring to the screen a specific adventure from the saga. Hawley has chosen an anthology structure: each season should tell a self-contained story, with characters and settings destined to change. This solution fits well with the nature of Far Cry, a franchise accustomed to moving between very different scenarios while keeping extreme situations and protagonists involved in increasingly out-of-control conflicts at its core.
It remains to be seen what the tone of the first season will be. The video games have alternated between realistic survival and decidedly crazier elements, from cults to experiments, passing through hallucinations and situations on the verge of science fiction. Hawley's presence makes the wait particularly interesting, also because the creator of Fargo is simultaneously moving forward with work on Alien: Earth. Two very different projects that entrust the same author with the task of building new television worlds.
