The Titanfall franchise is in a peculiar state: on one hand, there's been the great success of Apex Legends, the battle royale spinoff. On the other hand, however, the main series, after two chapters, has fallen into oblivion, because publisher EA was not satisfied with sales. On several occasions, a third installment was rumored, and now a "sequel" has indeed emerged… not by Respawn Entertainment.

Empulse, the new game with mechs

After making a big mess with the Splitgate sequel, US studio 1047 Games has decided to turn a new page with a spiritual successor to Titanfall. This is reported by Insider Gaming, which was sent a video of the game's pre-alpha version, called (perhaps provisionally) Empulse. The footage showed a team deathmatch where members of the two teams quickly traversed the map using grappling hooks, wall-running, and boosts.

The real peculiarity of Empulse, however, is that there are enormous mechs scattered across the map, reminiscent of those in Titanfall. These metallic giants are armed with a machine gun, a missile launcher, and a shield, equipment that allows them to dominate the battlefield. Empulse is still in pre-alpha, so it won't be released anytime soon, but it should be officially unveiled this year.
