Death Stranding - Film Script Nearing Final Touches
Interestingly, the film will not retell Sam Porter Bridges' journey

Tapped to direct the adaptation produced by A24 alongside Kojima Productions, Michael Sarnoski has confirmed that the script for the Death Stranding film is now close to its definitive version and that discussions with Hideo Kojima are progressing extremely positively.
According to the director, the drafts already shared have received a favorable reception, and work is now focused on the final touches. This is an encouraging sign for a particularly delicate project, given the unconventional nature of the universe created by the Japanese author.
An Autonomous Story in the Same Universe

The most interesting aspect, however, concerns the narrative approach. The film will not retell the journey of Sam Porter Bridges, the protagonist of the video game, but will instead recount parallel events set in the same world devastated by the Death Stranding. Some familiar faces may still appear, without the film becoming a mere transposition of the original plot.
Sarnoski explained that he has received great creative freedom from Kojima, with the goal of building an original story that remains consistent with the saga's mythology but is also capable of functioning as an independent work.
This choice could prove to be a winning one: instead of compressing a complex story into a few hours of film, the adaptation will have the opportunity to expand that universe from a different perspective. With the screenplay now nearing completion, upcoming announcements could concern the cast, the start of filming, and the future release date.
