The trailer for Crime 101, the anticipated adaptation of Don Winslow's short story of the same name, directed by Bart Layton, is now online. The film promises to bring back the allure of great 70s crime movies to cinemas, with a mix of elegance, tension, and action echoing The Thomas Crown Affair.

Chris Hemsworth plays a thief with an unusual ethical code: he only steals what insurance can cover. However, when he decides to pull off "the score of a lifetime" along Los Angeles' Highway 101, the situation gets complicated. Along his path, he encounters a struggling insurance broker (Halle Berry) and a determined detective (Mark Ruffalo) set on catching him, in a plot where nothing is as it seems and the line between good and evil becomes increasingly blurred.

Heist movie with a 70s aftertaste

Already the director of American Animals, Layton describes the film as "a return to intelligent, adult thrillers à la Steve McQueen." Hemsworth revealed he loved his character's vulnerability: "He's a good guy doing bad things, in a world where certainties crumble."

The cast also includes Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, and certainly not least, the amazing Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte. Crime 101 will be released in Italian cinemas on February 12, 2026, and in the USA the day after: just in time for an alternative Valentine's Day.
