After the 2020 film, Disney brings Artemis Fowl back to the screen with an animated series for Disney+ and Disney Channel. The announcement came at New York Comic Con 2026, during the panel dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Eoin Colfer's literary saga, who will participate in the project as executive producer.

The new version will revisit the origins of the young protagonist, a thirteen-year-old genius willing to use his intelligence to achieve personal goals. The discovery of the secret world of fairies confronts Artemis with a reality that even escapes his control and could prove decisive in saving his family.

Colfer's involvement is an important element for an adaptation that will need to recover the most distinctive characteristics of the novels. The film directed by Kenneth Branagh had modified several aspects of the story, making Artemis closer to the classic teenage hero and moving away from his initially manipulative nature. The series will be developed with the contribution of Ben Juwono, already associated with Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Colleen Evanson, who worked on DuckTales.

Released directly on Disney+ during the pandemic, the previous adaptation failed to convince critics and readers, compromising the prospects of a possible cinematic saga. Animation could offer greater freedom in representing the underground world and its inhabitants. The release date of the new series has not yet been announced.
