Apex: First Shots of Charlize Theron in New Survival Thriller

Just a few frames are enough to understand that Apex won't be just another thriller. Netflix has unveiled the first official images from the new survival film directed by Baltasar Kormákur, starring Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana, also confirming the release date: April 24, 2026.

Set amidst the wild, mountainous landscapes of Australia, Apex focuses entirely on raw, physical survival. Charlize Theron plays Sasha, a woman marked by grief who decides to test herself in extreme nature. What begins as a personal journey soon transforms into a deadly fight against a relentless predator, both human and otherwise. No spectacular heroics here: resistance, pain, and the ability to keep going when the body wants to stop seem to be what matters.

Theron stated that it is one of the toughest roles of her career: real climbs every day, without stunt doubles, often barefoot, and an exhausting physical training that is clearly reflected in the released images. A choice consistent with Kormákur's cinema (2 Guns, Everest, Contraband) known for his extreme sets and the use of real locations, without shortcuts.

Taron Egerton and Eric Bana complete a small but intense cast, assembled to heighten the tension scene after scene. With a production directly involving Theron herself, Apex is poised to become one of the most physical and talked-about thrillers among Netflix's 2026 productions.
