Blizzard ha annunciato che gli utenti con Diablo II che usano i personaggi di Hardcore dovrebbero stare attenti ad evitare un bug che alcuni individui non identificati stanno sfruttando per assassinare questi personaggi. Il creatore del gioco si informato a proposito e ha scoperto che alcune persone utilizzano un messaggio di spamming che grazie ad un bug fa morire i personaggi di Hardcore in Diablo II. Il team di Diablo II a lavoro per provvedere ad una patch che ripari questo bug, ma nel frattempo suggerisce di usare una parola d'ordine diversa per impedire che i personaggi vengano cancellati all'insaputa dell'utente.
