Yoko Shimomura's Music Resonates in Italian Islands
After sold-out shows in Milan and Rome, Echoes of Light arrives in Sicily and Sardinia, with two autumn dates in Palermo and Cagliari.
Milan, September 9, 2026 - Not just Milan and Rome: finally, Sicily and Sardinia will also be able to experience all the magic of Echoes of Light, the concert celebrating the legendary career of Yoko Shimomura, beloved composer of videogame soundtracks, whose notes have accompanied entire generations of fans. Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XV, Street Fighter II, Super Mario RPG, Legend of Mana and Parasite Eve: if these video games are so loved and remembered with such passion, it is also thanks to their soundtracks. And finally, it will be possible to listen to these compositions in the place where they deserve to be performed: live, on the stage of grand theaters.
Bringing these melodies to life will be the talent of Benyamin Nuss, who is responsible for the arrangement and performance, enhanced by an exceptional presence: Yoko Shimomura herself will indeed take to the stage to join him for selected pieces. The appointment to experience the emotions of Echoes of Light is set for October 10, 2026, in the Auditorium of the Cagliari Conservatory, and for October 11 in Palermo, at the Teatro Golden. Behind this project is the will of Yellow Echoes - an Italian company specializing in the production of experiences dedicated to international pop culture, video games, animation, cinema, and live music - to build a new narrative, choosing to invest concretely in two regions that too often remain excluded from major tour routes and national cultural events.
Echoes of Light offers a musical journey that spans the most significant stages of Shimomura's artistic production: between ethereal melodies and driving pieces, it alternates delicate lyricism and virtuoso performances, transporting listeners into a whirlwind of emotions and memories. The piano will thus transform into a true ten-fingered orchestra, drawing spectators into a musical journey capable of evoking remote atmospheres of imaginary places - but which players have experienced as if they were real - the most moving moments and the most epic boss fights of some famous video game titles, with arrangements supervised by Shimomura herself. The composer's entire musical universe will be condensed into the 88 keys of the piano, and for these island dates, the program will also be enriched with new arrangements and new pieces, offering even those who attended last year's concert a new experience.
“For the first time, island residents will not have to take a plane to attend concerts of this caliber, and will be able to celebrate an indelible icon of video game music directly in their own homes, enhancing the theaters of their land,” says Mario Petillo, Founder of Yellow Echoes. “In recent years, Yellow Echoes has brought film and TV stars such as Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Mads Mikkelsen to the Italian public and produced tours for Nobuo Uematsu, Gustavo Santaolalla, and many others both in Italy and Europe. Today, with these two concerts, we reiterate our “mission”: to elevate pop culture and video game and anime soundtracks, making them accessible to everyone, creating unrepeatable shows that aim to bring the great masters of the sector closer to the general public, eliminating any geographical distance.”
If video games are increasingly establishing themselves as an authentic art form, initiatives of this kind strongly reaffirm this, shining a spotlight on a high-level artistic sector that has nothing to envy from major cinematic productions. And precisely for this reason, works of this caliber deserve to be performed live, like all great music.
