Xbox: New Console in 2027 According to AMD
Steam Machine reportedly nearing release
AMD, the well-known manufacturer of hardware and chips, obviously has contracts and agreements with second-tier manufacturers, meaning those who assemble the products that then arrive in our homes. Among the equipment of the near and not-so-near future destined to mount AMD chips are Valve's PC/Console, Steam Machine, as well as Microsoft's future Xbox.
But when?
None other than AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, provides an answer to this question. According to reports on Gamesbeat, she recently revealed compatible production timelines for both products.
Steam Machine Soon, Xbox in 2027
"From a production standpoint, Valve is on track to begin distributing its AMD-powered Steam Machine in the first part of this year," Su stated during a call with shareholders. "And development of Microsoft's next-generation Xbox with semi-custom AMD components is progressing well to support a 2027 launch."
Obviously, these are production timelines, not commercial ones, and such statements should be taken with a grain of salt. While the launch of the Steam Machine is already expected soon and at a PC price, so we are essentially talking about confirmations, for Xbox the timelines are more relaxed, and between now and the end of 2027, anything and everything can happen. Furthermore, it should be remembered that the current industry situation involves significant hardware costs, and according to many analysts, the next generation of consoles – be it PS6 or Xbox – could be postponed until no earlier than 2028.
...we shall see...
