After years of completely free use, WhatsApp may soon offer an optional paid plan alongside its standard version. The available information comes from beta versions of the app and internal tests observed by developers, without the company having yet officially announced a launch or price list.

The hypothesis of a subscription does not concern access to messages or calls, which would remain free, but a series of additional features designed for those seeking a more customizable experience. The model would echo that already adopted by other Meta group platforms, where basic services remain accessible to everyone and more advanced options are reserved for subscribers.

How Does WhatsApp Premium Work?

According to reports from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing an optional plan that could unlock primarily aesthetic and app organization features. These include additional graphic themes, new icons, exclusive stickers, dedicated chat ringtones, and the ability to pin more than three conversations at the top. Access would be through a waiting list in beta versions, with a progressive rollout.

How Much Does WhatsApp Premium Cost?

Regarding costs, there are currently no official indications. Sources mention a monthly subscription, but without confirmed figures or references to the markets where it might be activated.

When Will WhatsApp Premium Be Available?

The timing also remains uncertain. WhatsApp has not announced a launch date nor confirmed the definitive list of features. However, ongoing tests suggest that the company is gauging user interest before a potential public debut. For now, the free version remains the only constant.
