Tom Holland Admits: "Some Films Shouldn't Have Been Seen"

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is almost here, but for now, some statements by Tom Holland have been stealing the spotlight. As a guest on the Dish podcast, the British actor recounted how complicated it can be to promote a film when, in reality, you are not at all convinced of the quality of the result.

According to Holland, facing the press only becomes easy if you truly believe in the project. In those cases, explaining to the public why they should buy a ticket comes naturally. The situation is different when you find yourself supporting a work that didn't even satisfy those who starred in it. The actor admitted that in the past he has heard the classic question about why the public should see a certain film, thinking to himself that the most honest answer would have been: "You shouldn't, it's a piece of crap."

Holland did not name any titles, but his words immediately sparked online discussions. Among the productions that have been at the center of speculation are Chaos Walking, Cherry, and Uncharted, three works that did not receive the hoped-for reception from critics and, in some cases, even the public.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Prepares for Debut

The statements come as Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios prepare for the launch of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Early estimates speak of a North American debut between $230 and $250 million, numbers that could bring the new chapter close to the extraordinary results achieved by Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Set four years after the events of the previous film, Brand New Day shows a Peter Parker now alone, after the world has forgotten his identity. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige alongside Amy Pascal, the film will inaugurate a new phase of the Spider-Man cinematic saga.
