Star Wars Zero Company Could Have Been a Titanfall Game
Bit Reactor's new tactical game is receiving a very positive reception, but...
Star Wars Zero Company, a tactical title developed by Bit Reactor, has been available on the market for a few days now. It's a profound work that has received a good reception and can well be considered one of the most successful video games dedicated to the Star Wars franchise; it's no coincidence that among its authors are industry veterans who know a thing or two about tactics, having previously worked on the XCOM series.
Titanfall Zero Company?
If you want to know what's special about Bit Reactor's work, we explain it in our review. The tactical formula that works so well in Zero Company could have easily been adopted in scenarios other than Star Wars, and in fact, it almost happened. This was revealed to us by journalist Stephen Totilo, who learned of an indiscretion dating back to before development, which began in 2022.
Apparently, the initial plans of Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor were to create a title set in the Titanfall universe. However, this initial intention was discarded by the late Vince Zampella, who suggested pivoting to the Star Wars intellectual property. It was a fortunate intuition, although things have gone very badly for Bit Reactor.
Layoffs at Bit Reactor
Most of the studio's members could not rejoice in the reception given to Star Wars Zero Company. As Totilo reports, a very substantial portion of the staff (a percentage that could reach 80%) was laid off even before the game's launch. Very little remains of Bit Reactor, and to make matters worse, there is also a lawsuit ongoing between the studio's founders.
