Tim Curry, farewell to the icon of Rocky Horror and It

Tim Curry has died at 80 years old. The passing of the British actor, confirmed by his manager, occurred in Los Angeles. The news closes the career of a performer capable of transforming eccentric and unsettling characters into authentic icons of pop culture.

Curry's face remained linked above all to two very different interpretations. In 1975, he was Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a role he had already played in theater and which became the symbol of his cinematic career.

Two unforgettable characters

Fifteen years later came Pennywise in the television miniseries It, based on Stephen King's novel. The clown portrayed by Curry helped to establish in the collective imagination a version of the character destined to be remembered even after subsequent adaptations.

Curry's career, however, was much broader. Born in England in 1946, he began in the West End before working in film, television, theater, and music. Other titles include Clue, Legend, Annie and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

In 2012, a stroke severely limited his mobility, without preventing him from continuing to work primarily as a voice actor.
