The Last of the Tribe will star Ethan Hawke and Orlando Bloom, alongside Brazilian indigenous activist Zaya Guarani.

Directed by Claudio Borrelli and written by Mark Bailey, the film is based on Monte Reel's investigative book. The story follows William Phelan, a disillusioned former Chicago police officer who has become a mercenary in the service of corporations, sent to the Amazon to shed light on a suspicious death. The mission will lead him to confront the last survivor of an indigenous tribe, in a context where the jungle becomes both a threat and a refuge.

Thriller & Ecology

The project seems to combine "old school" thriller tension with highly topical themes: the destruction of the rainforest, the relationship between progress and violence, and the survival of native populations. Among the producers is Oscar winner Edward Saxon, while Fernando Meirelles participates as executive producer.

International sales will begin in anticipation of the European Film Market in Berlin, where the film will be presented to buyers as a dense, physical, and morally incisive thriller.
