The Ecstasy of Gold: Spaghetti Westerns from Rome to the World

May 8–9–10, 2026 - Meatfield Town, Aprilia (LT), Italy

The Wild West returns to the outskirts of Rome, in a version inspired by the 'spaghetti western' genre, within a real village, complete with a saloon, bank, general store, church, and twenty other structures that make up the town of Lone Town, ready to welcome approximately 200 Italian and foreign citizens who will populate the village from May 8 to 10, 2026 for Italy's largest event.

'COLT - Chronicles of Lone Town' is a Western-themed live-action role-playing game in Italy, which, after the success of past editions, returns in its new edition "The Ecstasy of Gold", a tribute to the immortal legacy of Ennio Morricone and Sergio Leone. The story will begin at the end of the previous event, which concluded with the discovery of a gold mine within the village.

Three Days in the Heart of Legend

Conceived by Mauro Canavese of the cultural association Spaghetti LARP APS, in collaboration with director Giovanni Bufalini, COLT is a unique event that blends historical reenactment, cinema, and interactive theater. Participants do not merely watch a show; instead, they inhabit and experience it directly, because they are themselves part of the story that brings the event to life, making the player the true protagonist.

For three days, participants will take on the roles of gunslingers, femmes fatales, sheriffs, preachers with dark pasts, storytellers, swindlers, or simple citizens of Lone Town, an imaginary city located on the border between Arizona and Mexico, in the heart of an America torn by the consequences of the Civil War. Plots evolve in real-time, destinies intertwine, and every choice carries its own consequences and resulting changes to the story.

The location is Meatfield Town, in Aprilia (LT), a Western village spanning over 4,000 square meters, designed by Tiziano Carnevale, the largest and most detailed themed location in Italy. Over twenty walkable structures, from the saloon to the prison, from the church to the armory, all reconstructed in the smallest details to offer total immersion in the aesthetics of Italian Western cinema.

An International Partnership: Ultime Western®™ Enters History

The main novelty of this edition is the official partnership with Ultime Western®™ and The Ultime Western Universe®™, the legendary genre event that has taken place on the scenic original sets in Spain since 2008, locations made iconic on the big screen by Sergio Leone.

A union, that between Spaghetti LARP APS and Laurent Bertin, creator of Ultime Western®™, that connects people who share the same passions and goals: to bring back to life the myth of the spaghetti western and the Wild West, not as spectators, but as authentic protagonists.

Ultime Western®™ takes its players to original cinematic landscapes of deserts, frontier towns, and Mexican villages to rewrite the history of the American West between 1860 and 1900. This collaboration builds a bridge between Italy, Spain, and France, uniting European Western LARP communities under the same sky of golden stars and gunpowder.

Cinema and LARP: Italian Western Returns to the Big Screen

The development of "Salva la pelle McCoy" continues, a feature film by Giovanni Bufalini that intertwines with the stories of Lone Town. Born among the same buildings, costumes, and faces that bring to life the story of Joe McCoy, a man on the run from the fearsome Moore gang, the film draws on the authentic atmosphere that only a location like Meatfield Town can offer. Concrete proof that the Italian Western is not mere nostalgia, but a living genre, still capable of generating new stories.

Roberto Recchioni, screenwriter, illustrator, comic book author, film critic, and digital influencer, created the poster for the next edition of the event.

How to Participate in COLT

No prior experience in live-action roleplay is required, nor acting skills, nor expensive equipment. All that's needed is the desire to inhabit a story. The Spaghetti LARP APS team guides each player in character creation and integration into the narrative.
