The Cure, first trailer for the Sci-Fi about human experiments
A fortified island, biotechnological horror, family secrets, and sinister plans
The first trailer for The Cure, a new science fiction film with dark atmospheres that blends scientific thriller and psychological horror, is now online. The initial images hint at an unsettling story built around biological experiments and family secrets.
The protagonist is Ally Braun, a sixteen-year-old suffering from a mysterious illness that seems to defy any medical explanation. Her adoptive parents, played by David Dastmalchian and Ashley Greene, initially appear to be the only people capable of helping her. However, the trailer suggests that something far more ambiguous might be hidden behind their care.
High-level work, but theaters aren't for everyone
As time passes, Ally begins to connect her condition to a secret research project. Her blood seems to have unique characteristics, and this very element makes her the focus of potentially dangerous bioengineering experiments. The brief sequences shown in the trailer also suggest disturbing visions and laboratories where science clearly crosses ethical boundaries.
The story unfolds in an isolated scientific complex on a fortified island, a place that transforms the search for truth into a true fight for survival. When Ally realizes she might have become a guinea pig, the only remaining option seems to be to attempt an escape.
Directed by debutant Nancy Leopardi and written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, The Cure will premiere at the Manchester Film Festival on March 21st, with its digital release scheduled for April 13th. Currently, the film appears destined for a digital-only distribution in Italy.
