Supergirl Reassures the DCU: Gunn's Plan Moves Forward
Executive producer Lars P. Winther hinted that the heroine's journey won't stop here
The merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery had raised more than a few questions about the future of the DC Universe. However, recent statements from executive producer Lars P. Winther during the premiere of Supergirl have served to reassure fans.
According to Winther, David Ellison has already met with the DC Studios team and visited Trilith Studios in Atlanta, where James Gunn produces much of his work. The occasion reportedly served to present the work done so far and the plans that will guide the franchise in the coming years to the new CEO.
The DCU Does Not Seem Destined to Change Course
The indications that emerged from the meeting seem encouraging. Ellison reportedly welcomed the strategy set by Gunn and Peter Safran, showing confidence in the projects already underway. Productions like Lanterns and Clayface are (for now) proceeding regularly and do not seem destined to change course.
Winther also hinted at Kara Zor-El's future within the new shared universe. After the events of Supergirl, the character played by Milly Alcock will be involved in a different phase of her life, closer to Earth and her relationship with Superman. The producer also hinted that the heroine's journey will not stop here. In addition to her presence in Man of Tomorrow (2027), there are already plans for a further production in which Supergirl will have a prominent role.
With the film's Italian release set for June 25, the feature film represents one of the most important pieces for verifying the solidity of the project built by Gunn and Safran and the new management's support for the future of the DCU.
