Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord: First Trailer for the Animated Series

Lucasfilm has released the first official trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, a new animated series that brings one of the most obscure and fascinating characters from the galaxy far, far away back to center stage. The images preview a dark and mature story, focusing on the slow and obsessive reconstruction of Darth Maul's power after the collapse of his criminal empire.

Set approximately one year after the end of the Clone Wars, the series shows Maul surviving the events of Mandalore and determined to rise again in a galaxy rapidly falling under the control of the Empire. The trailer suggests intrigue in the criminal underworld, unstable alliances, and a constant sense of threat, with Palpatine's shadow still very much present.

Intriguing Atmospheres from the Dark Side

There are also new antagonists: among them stand out the Imperial Inquisitors – including Marrok – and mysterious Force-sensitive figures, who seem ready to hinder the rise of the Sith Lord. Sam Witwer returns to voice Maul, confirming his tragic and furious intensity, while the visual style recalls the legacy of The Clone Wars and Rebels, with darker and more mature atmospheres. Behind the project is Dave Filoni, joined by several Star Wars animation veterans.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord will debut on Disney+ starting next April 6, with the first 2 episodes available at launch and new episodes released weekly. A return that promises to delve deep into the character's darkness.
