Prime Video shines a spotlight on Scarpetta, a new crime series based on Patricia Cornwell's bestselling novels, an editorial phenomenon with over 120 million copies sold. The television adaptation, led by showrunner Liz Sarnoff, will debut on March 11, 2026 exclusively on the platform in more than 240 countries.

At the center of the story is Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a brilliant and determined medical examiner, played by Nicole Kidman. The series intertwines two timelines: the protagonist's beginnings in the late 90s and her return to the present in her hometown, where she resumes her duties to tackle a murder case that seems connected to an unresolved professional trauma.

Icon of Thriller Literature

The narrative is not limited to forensic investigations but delves into the characters' vulnerabilities and family conflicts. Central to this is the tense relationship with her sister Dorothy, played by Jamie Lee Curtis. The cast also includes Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Ariana DeBose as Lucy, the protagonist's hacker niece.

Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television, Scarpetta aims to become one of the most anticipated crime titles of 2026, bringing an icon of thriller literature back to the screen with unprecedented ambition.
