Ron Perlman Still Wants Hellboy 3
According to the New York actor, only Del Toro can finish that story
Ron Perlman wants to return to play Hellboy even in 10 years, just to make the third chapter directed by Guillermo del Toro. The 76-year-old actor reiterated this in an interview with Deadline, reigniting the hopes of those who have long awaited the conclusion of the original trilogy.
The project was supposed to complete the story begun in 2004 with Hellboy and continued in 2008 with Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The second film left decisive questions open: Liz Sherman was pregnant with twins, while the prophecy linked to the protagonist's apocalyptic destiny had not yet been fulfilled.
The ending Guillermo del Toro hasn't (yet) made
For Perlman, only Del Toro can finish that story. The actor described the film envisioned by the director as a Greek tragedy, centered on Hellboy's destiny and the conflict between his nature and the choices he made.
When asked about any recent contacts with the filmmaker, he preferred not to answer. Moreover, the Mexican director is busy with his own film projects and there are no rumors regarding a potential continuation of Hellboy. Who knows, maybe the news of Perlman's stubbornness will reach Del Toro, convincing him to make the final chapter of that trilogy.
