Resident Evil Requiem will sell well and... run smoothly on PC
Capcom is confident about its upcoming flagship title
Monster Hunter Wilds undoubtedly remains one of the most important titles of 2025 and sold tremendously well shortly after launch, but it suffers from a rather conflicted relationship with the PC. Plagued by optimization issues since day one, performance has even worsened over time instead of improving, to the point where Steam users decided to hit the hunting game with a resounding review bombing.
RE Requiem will not repeat Monster Hunter's mistakes
The situation with Monster Hunter Wilds raises more than a few doubts not only about Capcom's relationship with PC versions of its games, but also and especially about the RE Engine, the company's graphics engine, which is also being used for the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem. This concern was expressed by Capcom investors: in a recent Q&A with the company, it was explicitly asked if there was a risk that the MH Wilds situation would repeat with Requiem.
RE Requiem sales estimates
Capcom does not anticipate such risks, specifying that Resident Evil is different in terms of gameplay, system architecture, and online features. The Japanese company is working to make the game experience smooth across a variety of PC configurations. Optimism also extends to sales: Capcom expects Requiem to outperform its predecessor Village during its launch period. We recall that Village sold over three million copies in its first four days on the market.
