Rambo and Sylvester Stallone's Unreleased Idea
He wanted to show an unreleased side of the character, beyond the tormented soldier the public knows
Sylvester Stallone has revealed a shelved project that could have revolutionized the Rambo saga. During the promotion of the third season of Tulsa King, the actor recounted that he had thought of a prequel made with artificial intelligence to digitally de-age his character.
The idea was to show an unreleased side of John Rambo: not the tormented soldier the public knows, but a charismatic, popular guy at school, the best student, and even the prom king. Only after the devastating experience of the Vietnam War would the bright young man transform into a tragic and violent icon. "I wanted to make the first true AI film – Stallone explained – but time passed and others took over the project."
Before the Horrors of the Front
The future of the franchise is already set: John Rambo, a prequel to First Blood starring Noah Centineo (The Recruit) in the lead role, will arrive. The story will recount Rambo's years in the Green Berets during the Vietnam conflict.
For over forty years the face and creative mind of the saga, this time Stallone will not be involved. A choice that marks a true generational shift for a character who seemed inseparable from his interpreter. The doubt remains: would a digital Rambo created by AI have captivated the public or undermined its authenticity? The risk of unnaturalness seems to be the most plausible hypothesis.
