Nodusfall: HoYoverse also has its Monster Hunter
The Chinese company has unveiled a new project in Unreal Engine 5
HoYoverse, the Chinese developer that gained global fame with the hit Genshin Impact, unveiled one of its future games at Gamescom: Nodusfall. This production, characterized by a dark fantasy style quite different from the anime aesthetic the company has accustomed us to, is set in a world devastated by a calamity and inhabited by corrupted legendary creatures.
Who will be tasked with confronting these creatures? Players, of course, who will team up to take down colossal enemies. The gameplay, from what little can be gathered from the announcement trailer, definitely takes inspiration from Monster Hunter. Nodusfall is being developed with Unreal Engine 5: this is HoYoverse's second project using Epic Games' engine (the other is Varsapura), after years of using Unity.
Nodusfall says no to character gacha
The dark fantasy style, Monster Hunter-like gameplay, and game engine are not the only differences compared to HoYoverse titles currently on the market. Unlike Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, ZZZ, etc., Nodusfall will not adopt a gacha system for obtaining characters, which should all be accessible in-game. The infamous monetization method might instead be used for purely cosmetic items.
Where and when Nodusfall will be released
As mentioned above, Nodusfall is currently in development, and unfortunately, HoYoverse has been very vague about it. The Chinese company has not shared a launch window, and it's reasonable to assume we'll have to wait a while before its release. The platforms have not been revealed either: we know HoYoverse prefers mobile devices, but there is no confirmation at the moment. Nodusfall has an official website, where pre-registration is already open.
