Nioh 3 arrives February 6, 2026, here's the release date trailer
Three new videos unveiled: a behind-the-scenes and the story trailer. Pre-orders available for PlayStation 5 and Steam
KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Team NINJA have announced that Nioh 3, the new installment in the dark samurai action RPG series, will be available from February 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC (via Steam). To celebrate the start of pre-orders on both systems, a story-based trailer, directed by Shinji Higuchi, has been released, also revealing game mechanics and characters.
In Nioh 3, players step into the shoes of Tokugawa Takechiyo, poised to become the next Shogun in Japan's turbulent Sengoku period. Consumed by envy for Takechiyo's success, his younger brother Tokugawa Kunimatsu succumbs to darkness and plots to overthrow him. Infused with an evil force, he leads a horde of Yokai in a fierce assault against Takechiyo, abruptly ending the era of peace and plunging Japan into hell. Guided by the mysterious power of Kusanagi, his Guardian Spirit, Takechiyo transcends time to survive a troubled realm and become shogun.
The story of Nioh 3 unfolds on a much grander scale than previous installments in the saga, covering various eras and regions, including Edo Castle and the Ttmi region during the Sengoku period (which players explored in the alpha demo) and Kyto, the capital of the Heian period, which was recently unveiled. Players will be able to freely explore each era in an open-world gameplay experience, featuring beautiful and unique environments. In a risky attempt to thwart his brother's conspiracy, while facing the challenge of the Crucible, Takechiyo must fight against various Yokai and other powerful enemies.
Throughout the adventure, you will encounter characters from different eras, including Takeda Shingen, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and Minamoto no Yoritomo. Other familiar characters will cross paths with Tokugawa Takechiyo, including Hattori Hanzo, Honda Tadakatsu, and Saito Fuku. Actors Tao Tsuchiya and Kanata Hongo will lend their talent to Nioh 3, respectively in the roles of Himiko (the mysterious queen of Yamatai), and Kunimatsu Tokugawa. To celebrate this announcement, two behind-the-scenes videos have been released.
In addition to the standard edition, the Digital Deluxe Edition will be available for digital pre-order. The Season Pass can also be purchased separately. Furthermore, a SteelBook edition, which includes the main game and two exclusive bonus DLCs, can be pre-ordered. A timely purchase bonus is available for all versions of the game, redeemable on the PlayStation Store and Steam, available for a limited time after the game's release.
Currently, Nioh 3 is under development and is scheduled for release on February 6, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC (via Steam). The game will be voiced in Japanese and English, while texts will be in Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish.
