Capcom has released a video to celebrate the first anniversary of Monster Hunter Wilds, announcing the contents of the next update and confirming the development of a major expansion. Details of the DLC, which will likely follow in the footsteps of Iceborne and Sunbreak, will be presented in the summer, so for now we'll have to settle for version 1.041, which is still packed with new features.

The star of the update is the Arch-tempered Arkveld, which will introduce new, even more difficult 10-star quests, dedicated to the five "apex" monsters of the game. There will also be new event quests and rotating festivals for those who missed them at the time, several collaborations with the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and the weapon and pendant winners of the contest in which fans from all over the world participated.

The update will be available for download starting February 18, and will offer in-game extras and events regularly until March 19, with the Arch-tempered Arkveld Free Challenge. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Here's the announcement video.
