Miles Morales Live-Action and the Caleb McLaughlin Hypothesis
The young actor revealed that becoming Miles would be a “dream role”
After 3 films dedicated to Spider-Man in the MCU and a fourth adventure coming with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a major absence remains in the live-action world: Miles Morales. Despite the triumph of the animated Spider-Verse saga, which led to extraordinary box office success and the character's explosion in popularity, the young Spider-Man remains confined to animation and video games.
During the promotion of the fifth season of Stranger Things, Caleb McLaughlin revealed that wearing Miles' costume would be a “dream role” for him. The observation emerged almost by chance, during a game organized by Time, when his colleague Sadie Sink pointed to Miles as the ideal character for the actor. Now twenty-four years old, McLaughlin did not hide that he would like to take part in a Marvel production, while admitting that the Avatar saga remains at the top of his aspirations.
Sony Halts the Dream
But the fans' intentions clash with those of the Studios. Kevin Feige clarified that, by Sony's will, Marvel cannot use Miles Morales until the completion of the animated trilogy, which will conclude in 2027 with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The character formally “exists” in the MCU thanks to a hint in Homecoming, but his live-action debut remains distant.
Meanwhile, Peter Parker's return is set for July 31, 2026, while Miles will only make headlines again through animation.
