LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Lowers RAM Requirements

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was announced by Traveller's Tales Games and Warner Bros. last August: in case you missed it, you can find the Trailer HERE.

Last month, the developers also published the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for the PC version on the game's Steam page: immediately there was considerable controversy regarding the recommended RAM, which was a whopping 32 GB. For comparison, the previous title in the series, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga - Reviewed by us - was content with 8 GB in 2022.

Now things have been scaled back: with a specific announcement, TT Games has made it known that "As part of our ongoing testing for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on PC, we have revised the recommended hardware specifications from 32 GB of RAM to 16 GB of RAM. Please note that our PC specifications at this point are not final."

LEGO Batman is not the only one to lower the bar

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is not the first case of an upcoming title to have revised its hardware requirements for RAM downwards: before WB, IO Interactive released specifications for 007: First Light which were then scaled back, claiming there had been "a misunderstanding".

According to some, software producers are receiving a dictate from parent companies to optimize performance to allow games to run smoothly and completely even with less RAM. The underlying reason would once again be the memory market crisis, which has been optioned by the AI industry and has led to soaring prices, making it difficult [and expensive] to assemble a PC with certain requirements at present. If publishers want to hope to sell their games, they must ensure that a valid installed base can be reached - and therefore PCs with less RAM...

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set for release on May 29, 2026, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
