The controversy surrounding the words of Sven Vincke, boss of Larian Studios, regarding the use of artificial intelligence in video game development has not yet subsided. The Belgian studio's openness to new technological tools was misunderstood, and Vincke didn't mince words: we told you about the incident in this article. Another acclaimed video game author has now spoken out on the matter.

Daniel Vavra's Opinion on AI

Daniel Vavra, co-founder and creative director of Warhorse Studios (the creators of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2), shared his thoughts on the topic in a long message via Twitter/X. Vavra confesses that he himself is scared by the developments in artificial intelligence, particularly because it's no longer even recognizable. However, as frightening as it may be, it must be admitted that AI is here to stay with us.

Vavra compares those who oppose this change to the people who tried to destroy the first steam engines at the dawn of the industrial revolution. He acknowledges that some professional figures, particularly programmers, are unfortunately destined to be replaced by AI, but trying to resist the change would be like rejecting sewing machines in the textile industry.

The Possible Advantages of AI

The co-founder of Warhorse focuses on a couple of positive aspects of AI: first, it can make developers' work faster and less tedious. Vavra explains that it takes him an average of 7 years to make a game and hopes that, thanks to AI, development times can be significantly reduced. The second positive aspect is the implementation of advanced AI within the games themselves, to have complex conversations with NPCs.
