Varsapura – until a few days ago known as Genesis – is the title of the new MMO in development at miHoYo, the software house behind the already famous Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.

The title was presented with a lengthy gameplay video of over 30 minutes, which we're sharing with you: this time, it seems the Chinese developer has abandoned the Breath of the Wild-style open-world fantasy and sci-fi to dedicate itself to a psychological horror setting, more similar to the Persona brand [to be more precise, a particular detail in the video reminded us of Persona 3].

Varsapura: The Gameplay

The protagonist – we don't know yet if there will be a male counterpart – begins her adventure by joining the SEAL agency, an acronym for Shadow Emergency Alliance. After a rather anomalous interview and entrance test, she finds herself exploring the city with her colleague, and we also get to see some driving sessions. Later, another character with an appearance clearly inspired by Harley Quinn from the DC universe will also join the fray.

The game, however, shows a basic system that involves free world exploration and dynamic real-time combat; the protagonist appears armed with an umbrella with various special properties, not least that of allowing her to glide for long distances, thus maintaining a characteristic trend of Genshin Impact. To develop Varsapura, miHoYo is relying on Unreal Engine 5, but for now, it is not known when players will be able to get their hands on it; in fact: HoYoverse concludes the video by inviting interested parties to submit their applications for the numerous vacant positions in the development team.

We will wait...
