The immortals return to the big screen with a cast that promises to become legendary. The new Highlander, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick), stars Henry Cavill as Connor MacLeod and welcomes an exceptional face: Djimon Hounsou.

Present in acclaimed works such as Gladiator, Guardians of the Galaxy, Constantine and Blood Diamond, he will play an immortal African warrior. According to rumors, he might be a new version of Sunda Kastagir, MacLeod's friend in the 1986 original. Alongside him will be Russell Crowe, who will play the wise Ramirez, and Dave Bautista as the formidable Kurgan, one of fantasy cinema's most iconic villains.

Reboot to not regret the past

The cast is further enriched with Karen Gillan, who will be Heather MacLeod, and Marisa Abela in a still mysterious role. For Cavill, this project represents a personal dream: a long-time fan of the saga, the British actor has stated that he wants to pay homage to the myth born with Christopher Lambert.

With Stahelski's spectacular choreography and Michael Finch's screenplay (John Wick: Chapter 4), the film aims to rediscover the magic of the 1986 cult classic, which blended action, fantasy, and the historic Queen soundtrack.

Filming will begin in September.
