Highlander Reboot: Cavill Bloody on London Set
Tense and dramatic atmosphere in Chad Stahelski's reinterpretation of the 1986 cult classic
The new images from the London set of Highlander are already making rounds online: Henry Cavill appears blood-stained, wearing a long leather coat, and with a tired gaze while riding a motorcycle. An image that suggests a recently concluded clash and confirms the more physical and dramatic tone of the reboot directed by Chad Stahelski.
Cavill plays Connor MacLeod, the immortal Scottish warrior forced to fight his own kind for centuries, "until there can be only one." Dave Bautista was also spotted on set as the Kurgan, the historical antagonist, here re-envisioned as Victor Kruger. The presence of the two actors suggests that the central conflict will have a much more pronounced weight than in the past.
Action without nostalgia for the remake
The project also involves Russell Crowe as Ramírez, the protagonist's mentor and a role previously held by Sean Connery, while the production aims for a more realistic approach to choreography, leveraging Stahelski's experience with contemporary action cinema.
The original Highlander, released in 1986, was not an immediate success but became a cult classic thanks to its simple yet powerful mythology: immortals who can only die by decapitation and duels spanning centuries. The reboot seems to want to maintain the narrative structure, updating it with a darker and more spectacular aesthetic.
The set photos suggest a clear direction: less '80s romanticism, more intensity and scars. And judging by the images, Cavill seems ready to bear the weight of five centuries of battles.
