God of War - Prime Video Reveals Cast and First Image
Filming underway in Vancouver, production already looking beyond the first season
The live-action series of God of War is taking shape and finally revealing its main faces. Filming has begun in Vancouver, and Prime Video has already granted the project a 2-season order, a sign of great confidence in the adaptation of the celebrated PlayStation saga.
Kratos will be played by Ryan Hurst, known to the general public for Sons of Anarchy. Alongside him, as Atreus, will be Callum Vinson, previously seen in the series Chucky. The story will follow the father-son journey to honor Faye's last wish, a path that will test both Kratos's divinity and the humanity he struggles to recognize within himself.
Prime Video is betting big on the series
The Norse pantheon will be populated by prominent faces: Mandy Patinkin will play Odin, Ed Skrein will be Baldur, while Ólafur Darri Ólafsson will portray Thor. Leading the project is Ronald D. Moore as showrunner, with the direction of the first episodes entrusted to Frederick E.O. Toye. The production involves Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, along with PlayStation Productions.
The goal is ambitious: to transform one of the most beloved video game sagas into an epic tale capable of capturing even those who have never held a controller.
