His interest isn't just a simple declaration of intent

Olivier Richters was one step away from playing Kratos in Prime Video's God of War series. Standing over two meters tall and known for having played Paulie in Reacher, the Dutch actor passed two casting phases before production ultimately cast Dave Bautista in the role. Bautista took over from Ryan Hurst, who was forced to withdraw from the part after a bicep injury during action scene rehearsals.

Richters, however, doesn't seem willing to give up the chance to enter the Prime Video television universe. His attention has shifted to Tyr, the Norse god of war and a character he believes is particularly suited to his physical and interpretive presence.

Richters Aims for a New Role in the Amazon Series

His interest isn't just a simple declaration of intent, as Richters has asked his agent to contact the series' producers to express his availability for an audition for the role. The actor himself also acknowledged that Bautista is an excellent choice for Kratos, while admitting he would have liked to get that part.

Currently, there are no confirmations regarding the actor's potential entry into the cast, whose massive physical presence would help make the narrative context even more engaging. With Ronald D. Moore leading the project, the series will adapt the events of the two Norse chapters of the video game saga, God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. The story centers on Kratos and his son Atreus's journey to the highest peak of the Nine Realms, where they must scatter the ashes of Faye, the warrior's wife and the boy's mother.
