Fate of the Old Republic will be released soon, but not too soon
We'll still have to wait a few years before we see it
The announcement of Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic was one of the big reveals we witnessed during The Game Awards 2025. The legendary Knights of the Old Republic will receive a spiritual successor, and at the helm of the project is Casey Hudson, the Canadian game designer who not only oversaw KOTOR but also the Mass Effect trilogy. Fate of the Old Republic is therefore in excellent hands; however, there are some concerns regarding the game's timeline.
When is Fate of the Old Republic coming out?
Development is being handled by Arcanaut Studios, which was founded by Hudson himself in July 2025. In other words, Fate of the Old Republic has been in development for at most a few months: this circumstance has led some observers to hypothesize that the release date is necessarily very far off, at least from 2030 onwards. Hudson intervened on this point with a reassurance.
The director of Fate of the Old Republic, in a message via Twitter/X, made it clear that the game will be released before 2030. We at Gamesurf, considering that development is still in its early stages, imagine we won't see it before 2029...
