It's not often that a trailer looks like it came out of a childhood nightmare and, at the same time, a macabre fairy tale. This is the effect of Dust Bunny, Bryan Fuller's directorial debut, which reunites him with Mads Mikkelsen in a role as unexpected as it is unsettling.

The story follows Aurora (Sophie Sloan), a child convinced that a monster under her bed has devoured her family. To save herself, she asks for help from her neighbor, played by Mikkelsen, a hitman with a dark past. What begins as a chilling children's tale soon becomes a journey of survival, where innocence and violence intertwine.

New Collaboration Between Fuller and Mikkelsen

The Fuller–Mikkelsen connection is already legendary thanks to Hannibal, a series that redefined the canon of television thrillers. Now the pair are back together for a film that promises hypnotic tension, symbolism, and disturbing imagery. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, a fantasy icon, and David Dastmalchian, an increasingly prominent face in new horror.

Dust Bunny transforms the universal fear of the “monster under the bed” into a metaphor for trauma and hidden secrets within the home, with an aesthetic that combines dark fairy tale and visceral cruelty. The film will debut on September 9 at the Toronto International Film Festival, in the Midnight Madness section, before its official release set for early December 2025.
