The first official image from the set of Dune 3 has reignited fan enthusiasm: published by the actor on his Instagram stories and then shared by the Secrets of Dune profile, it shows the actor who will return to play Paul Atreides immersed in the golden light of the desert with the caption “DUN3 LOADING”.
After the global triumph of the second chapter of Dune, which surpassed 715 million dollars at the box office, Denis Villeneuve immediately began filming the third chapter, starting in the Budapest studios and continuing in the Liwa Oasis of Abu Dhabi, which once again embodies the planet Arrakis.
Return to the Abu Dhabi Desert
The cast reconfirms key faces — Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem — and welcomes new stars like Robert Pattinson, whose role remains shrouded in mystery. Villeneuve will bring Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah to the screen, a more intimate and complex chapter, where Paul confronts the weight of power and the cult surrounding him.
With Greig Fraser as cinematographer and Hans Zimmer composing the soundtrack, Dune 3 promises to be a truly alternative sensory experience. The release is set for December 18, 2026, in a year that promises to be epic for science fiction, with titles by Ridley Scott, Ryan Gosling, and Steven Spielberg.
