Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake - Launch Trailer
A piece of JRPG history returns today, in a new guise
The very first Dragon Quest games, released in the second half of the 1980s, represent a milestone for the JRPG genre. Conceived by Japanese game designer Yuji Horii and developed by Chunsoft, this series profoundly influenced subsequent Japanese video game production. If you are a fan of the genre but for some reason missed it, you can remedy that with a modern edition.
Square Enix announces the release of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake: this collection, comprising remakes of the first two episodes, is available starting today, October 30, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC (Microsoft Store, Steam). The originals have been rejuvenated with HD-2D graphics and some concessions to modern players, although the mechanics still remain products of their time: we delve deeper into this in our review of DQ I & II HD-2D Remake.
