Dogfight, Jason Statham Returns to Guy Ritchie's Criminal World
The collaboration began in 1998 with the sensational Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Jason Statham will collaborate again with Guy Ritchie in Dogfight, an action thriller set in London's criminal underworld, which will be produced by Netflix. This marks the seventh cinematic collaboration for the duo, including Viva La Madness, which is still awaiting an official release date.
The new project will see Ritchie involved in screenwriting, directing, and producing, while Statham will be the protagonist and co-producer. Production is expected to begin in the UK in early 2027. The plot has not yet been disclosed, but the film is described as an elegant revenge thriller set in the London underworld.
The Return to Origins for a Cinematic Duo
The collaboration began in 1998 with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, continuing with Snatch and Revolver. After a long hiatus, the two reunited with Wrath of Man and Operation Fortune in 2023. Viva La Madness, on the other hand, is an adaptation of J.J. Connolly's novel, with filming concluded in early 2026.
Netflix thus solidifies its relationship with Ritchie, who also created the splendid series The Gentlemen. It remains to be seen if the new film will recapture the dark humor of their early works or follow the darker path of the director's recent action cinema.
