Warner Bros. surprised everyone by releasing an enigmatic look at Digger, one of the most intriguing films arriving in the autumn of next year. A few instants, a title finally revealed, and immediately a certainty: it will be something strange, ambitious, and difficult to classify.

The project unites Tom Cruise with Oscar-winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu, a pairing that alone promises unpredictability. Cruise plays a man with an unforgettable name: Digger Rockwell. Beyond this, details remain closely guarded. However, Warner Bros. has released an official synopsis that hints at a madness of considerable proportions.

Powerful, Mad, Savior of the World

“Introducing Digger Rockwell. A comedy of catastrophic proportions. The most powerful man in the world embarks on a desperate mission to prove he is humanity's savior, before the disaster he himself unleashed destroys everything.”

The tone seems to oscillate between black comedy and large-scale chaos, and the fleeting images of Cruise armed with a shovel only fuel speculation. The cast is impressive: Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, John Goodman among others. Filming took place in the United Kingdom between late 2024 and 2025 in 35mm VistaVision format, a choice that promises a strong visual impact.

Digger will arrive in cinemas worldwide on October 2, 2026. The teaser hits the mark: it confuses, intrigues, and sets the stage for one of the most unpredictable films of the coming years.
