Pearl Abyss studio has shared a long trailer offering an overview of Crimson Desert, the fantasy action/adventure set to be released on March 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox PC). This video is the first in a series of three in-depth looks, which will detail various aspects of the game. The first trailer focuses on the protagonist Kliff and the continent of Pywel.

Kliff, the hero of Crimson Desert

The hero we will control is named Kliff, a proud fighter of the Greymanes, a clan that has long strived to maintain peace and protect the innocent, but is now on the verge of collapse. It will be up to the protagonist to pick up the pieces of the faction, reuniting scattered members and reclaiming its lands. Kliff will not be the only playable character: during the campaign, two others will join, each with a specific combat style.

The world of Crimson Desert

Kliff will have to thwart a threat looming over Pywel, the continent of Crimson Desert. It is a huge open world, freely explorable, with a plethora of points of interest… and even more dangers to face. Divided into five regions, Pywel offers the viewer the wild charm of natural landscapes, combined with the wonder of medieval fantasy settings. The main problem of the continent does not stem from Pywel itself, but… from above.

Above the continent is located the Abyss, a mysterious realm from which fragments imbued with a dark and corrupting power rain down. Kliff will have his work cut out for him to nullify the nefarious effects of the fragments and will have to venture into the Abyss to put an end to its threat. Our hero will be able to use various means of locomotion to achieve his goals: in addition to a traditional horse, Kliff will be able to ride a dragon and even a missile-firing mech (but won't that be too exaggerated?).
