Christoph Hartmann Is Out at Amazon Game Studios
He co-founded 2K
Amazon Games Studio loses another important member of its staff: this time we're talking about Christoph Hartmann, a well-known name in the industry who joined the gaming division of the streaming giant in 2018 as Vice President and de facto leader of the studios.
The news was reported by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg: Hartmann was even a co-founder of 2K and was the publisher of major successes such as Bioshock and Borderlands. During his time at Amazon, Hartmann oversaw the launch of Crucible, a title developed by Relentless Studios that was removed from the market shortly after its 2020 launch.
Other projects under Hartmann's purview, such as the Lord of the Rings MMO, were similarly canceled. New World, another MMO, is officially still in the running for January 2027. Aside from this, Amazon is notably in contact with Crystal Dynamics for the development of the new Tomb Raider, while also preparing the new Live Action Series for Amazon Prime Video.
...all of this, apparently, without Christoph Hartmann at the helm anymore...
